Gerry Stecca b. 1964
From a multicultural background, heavily influenced by science and art, and very social by nature, Gerry Stecca has made art in one way or another since childhood. After formallly training at San Diego Mesa College and later obtaining his B.A. in Visual Arts from the University of California (1987), in 1988 he moved to Miami, FL were he now lives as a freelance artist. Although continuously painting and drawing (his strongest tools), his work has gradually evolved into the realm of Sculptural Installations. Influenced by his work in the Retail Industry (USA, Canada, Spain, The Bahamas), creating murals, props and generally working with space planning and design, a sense for space and its relation to material developed and influenced the repetitive style of his Installations. He currently works from a studio in Wynwood Arts and Design District in Midtown Miami, surrounded by galleries, artist and daily raw examples of the hard life in an international metropolis' downtown. His work is refularly shown at Silvana Facchini Gallery and 'ISM Gallery.
